2025 NEA-New Mexico Elections are Underway!

Call for nominations are open until 5:00 p.m. MST, October 20, 2024.

The NEA-New Mexico Elections Committee calls for nominations for offices to be elected in the 2025 All-Member Election.  All nominations due by close of business on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Nominations are open for the following offices:

  1. President of NEA-New Mexico and delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, three-year term commencing July 15, 2025. (all active nonsupervisory members eligible)
  2. Vice President of NEA-New Mexico and delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, three-year term commencing July 15, 2025. (all active nonsupervisory members eligible)
  3. Southeast Region-Dist 1 - Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three-year term beginning July 15, 2025. (all active members of a local in Southeast Region-Dist 1 are eligible) SE Election District 1—NEA-LOVINGTON, NEA-PORTALES, NEA-CLOVIS, HED-ENMU PORTALES, NEA-CARLSBAD, NEA-EUNICE, NEA-HOBBS, NEA-JAL, NEA-LOVING, NEA-DORA, NEA-TATUM, and NEA-TEXICO
  4. Southeast Region-Dist 2 - Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three-year term beginning July 15, 2025. (all active members of a local in Southeast Region-Dist 2 are eligible) SE Election District 2—NEA-ELIDA, NEA-FLOYD, NEA-FT.  SUMNER, NEA-HONDO, NEA-HOUSE, HED-ENMU ROSWELL, HED-NM MILITARY INST, NEA-MELROSE, NEA-ROSWELL, NEA-RUIDOSO, NEA-ARTESIA, NEA-DEXTER, NEA-LAKE ARTHUR, and NEA-HAGERMAN
  5. Southwest Region-Dist 1- Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three-year term beginning July 15, 2025. (all active members of a local outside Las Cruces in Southwest Region-Dist 1 are eligible)
  6. Southwest Region-Dist 2 - Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three-year term beginning July 15, 2025. (all active members of a local in Southwest Region-CSEC/Las Cruces-Dist 2 are eligible)
  7. Southwest Region - Member of the Education Political Action Committee, three-year term beginning July 15, 2025.  (all active members of a local in Southwest Region-CSEC/Las Cruces are eligible.)
  8. State Delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly (all active members are eligible)
  9. State Category Two Delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly (all category two members-NEA members who are active supervisors, NEA Life members, NEA retired-staff Life members-are eligible)
  10. Cluster Delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly (all active nonsupervisory members in locals of 75 or fewer members are eligible) *
  11. Student Delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly (only student members eligible to nominate and be nominated) *
  12. Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, representing Retired Members, one-year term beginning July 15, 2025 (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) Two positions to be elected.
  13. Retired Delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly, (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) *

* The actual number of retired delegates and cluster delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on January 15, 2025. Student delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on March 21, 2025.

Candidates may nominate themselves by completing the online nomination form.  Any member of an appropriate membership category may nominate candidates as well.  Candidates for retired member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors and retired delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by retired members; candidates for student delegate to the 2025 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by student members.

Nominations are to be completed using the NEA-NM electronic nomination form, submitted to the President of NEA-New Mexico by 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The Elections Committee has ruled that a nomination by a member other than the nominee will not be considered a valid nomination unless the nominee has given express prior permission for the nomination.  The committee has also ruled that only nominations made on official nomination forms will be considered valid.  Ballot position for 2025 NEA Representative Assembly will be in the order in which the nominations are received.  All other ballot positions will be determined by lot in accordance with the standing rules.

Candidate Statements

RA Delegate nominees may submit a statement of up to 25 words to be published with RA Delegate ballots and on the NEA-NM website.  

Other candidates nominated for NEA-NM office may have a statement on the website of 50 words or less, beginning December 6, 2024. Statements are due by November 1, 2024.

The deadline for NEA-NM receipt of all candidate statements is November 1, 2024.
